Funny Poetry

Welcome to the free audio poetry page, where you find lots of funny poetry as well as a dash of silly and scary poetry. All poems were written by A Child's Voice founder Bill Buczinsky. We'll be posting new ones on a regular basis so be sure to check back often!

The first five poems below are
from the CD Kiss The Fish.
This CD contains 28 tracks
of pure poetic fun (and lots
of funny poetry too)! If you

The Dawg Doctor - I was driving on an old country road down South one day when I noticed the license plate of the car in front of me. It said "Dog Doc." I started saying the words "I'm the Dawg Doctor" over and over in a slow deep southern drawl - the way a good 'ole country vet might say it. Most of the poem as you hear it was written while I continued to follow that car.

The Bogeyman Band - When I was a kid, I was afraid of writing. After years of facing that fear, I actually became a writer. That's what this poem is all about - facing your fears - whatever they may be. If you have a fear of something, you can overcome it just like I did. Now go get 'em!

Crack A Jack - Growing up in New York, I've seen my share of fights. I sure wish somebody would have recited this little poem for me before every one of those brawls!

The Irate Pirate - I grew up in Long Island and my favorite place has always been the beach. For years, I'd float out on the water and talk to myself like a pirate. This poem came out of that lonely drama in the water off the beach.

Dr. Seuss - Dr. Seuss was written as a tribute to the great children's poet Theodor Seuss Geisel who passed away on September 24th, 1991. I believe that Dr. Seuss was the first poet's voice I ever heard as a child. I hope you enjoy this funny poem!

Written Poems (from the Journal Strange World )

King of Style - Have you ever noticed how some kids try to be just like everyone else? Each one of us has our own unique style. We should be concentrating on those things that make us uniquely poetic. Let your freak-flag fly!

A Dream Tied Balloon - Dreams don't just happen. They take a lot of huff & puff. A lot of sweating and grunting and knee-scraping trail & error. Don't be discouraged when you get discouraged. Get off your rump and make something happen!

Slip! Slop! Slurp! - Here's a poem made for a drooling toddler - or anyone else that just wants to say something silly!

Have you ever heard of Shel Silverstein? He wrote a lot of
funny poetry. Our Shel Silverstein tribute page contains a very special poem called Uncle Shel.
