Poetry Writing Resources

This page provides links to poetry writing resources. It's designed to give both teachers and parents practical ways to share the world of poetry with young people.

Poetry is a force found whenever we let our imaginations touch real life. Everyone has poetry, it just needs to be developed by practicing some basic moves. In soccer you learn to dribble and kick. In gymnastics you learn to flip and flop. In tiddlywinks you learn to pot the wink. And if you kick a dribbling tiddlywink in the back of a flip-flopping gymnast, you're playing poetry.

Below are fun lesson plans and activities you can print and share with your young people. It may be a game, but poetry will build some serious artistic muscle. Have fun!
