The Legend of Sam McSail
Come me lads! Come hear the tale.
Of a man so big he rode a whale.
Launched from shore on the back of her tail,
Such was the man named Sam McSail.
Born in a hurricane, raised in a typhoon,
Cradled in the crow's nest, steered her by the moon,
Now, Sam McSail loved the sea. It was there he learned to sail,
But when it came to telling stories, no one told a bigger tale.
And the women all would gasp,
And the men would slap their knees,
And the children all would marvel at the wonders of the sea.
Now one gray day a great white shark - they say she were fifty feet -
Went prowling the Pacific looking for noonday meat.
When the shark she sees her Sam McSail,
And she shows her great white teeth,
Thinking sailor Sam would make some pretty good meat.
But Sam looked long and Sam looked mean,
And Sam McSail ate the shark and spit out six sardines.
And the women all would gasp,
And the men would slap their knees,
And the children all would marvel at the wonders of the sea.
One day in White Squall Harbor a crew of pirates stole on board.
They were armed to the teeth with cutlasses,
They were a horrible hideous hoard.
And the pirates tied up Sam McSail
They made him walk the plank.
The bell rang twenty-five times but Sam never sank.
With a flip of the kick he slipped the fix
And he cut up the pirate into little bits.
And the women all would gasp,
And the men would slap their knees,
And the children all would marvel at the wonders of the sea.
Now in the end Sam died a happy man
Sailing seas on no man's chart.
T'was out there he fell in love with a mermaid
Who captured and stole his heart.
And the old seadogs say
When the moon is holding mist
They have seen Sam and his mermaid in a polynesian kiss.
And the truest of the true sear with a Bible in their fist
That Sam McSail has grown a tail and swims the ocean like a fish!
And the women all would gasp,
And the men would slap their knees,
And the children all would marvel at the wonders of the sea.
